Our manufacturing process
Here we take you through all the stages involved in making a window, right through to installation, to give you an idea of the technical nature of each stage. This process is suitable for all other types of joinery.
1
Receipt of raw wood planks, mainly oak from local sawmills and forests.
2
Trimming : the sapwood is removed and the different sections are cut according to the cut sheet.
3
Calibration : a more precise thickness is defined thanks to the 4-sided planer and potential defects are uncovered.
4
Gluing : several pieces of solid wood are glued together using a press. In this way, the fibres cross over each other, preventing the piece from warping over time.
5
2nd calibration : the exact width and thickness of the part are determined, with a 0.6 mm margin for sanding.
6
Machining with the 5-axis numerical centre: all the cut-outs are made for profiles, assemblies, hardware locations, etc.
7
Framing : the various pieces of wood are assembled to form the frame of each window.
8
The 3rd calibration with the digital centre: the external machining of the opening parts is carried out.
9
Sanding : 0.3 mm of each flat side is removed during sanding for a perfect finish.
10
The primer : a natural or white water-repellent product is applied to protect the joinery.
11
The hardware, glass and seals are fitted.
12
It is ready to be laid according to the rules of the trade (in compliance with DTU 36.5).
4 reasons to choose wood for your joinery
1. Aesthetics and customisation
Wood is a warm, elegant material that blends perfectly with all styles of decoration, from traditional to contemporary. It can be painted, stained or left natural, offering a wide variety of finishes.
2. Thermal and acoustic insulation
Wood is an excellent natural insulator, and performs better than aluminium or PVC. It helps to reduce heat loss and maintain a pleasant temperature in your home. It also provides effective acoustic insulation, reducing outside noise.
3. Durability and robustness
When properly cared for, wood is extremely durable and can withstand the elements for decades. We only use oak or exotic woods, which are particularly robust and hard-wearing.
4. Ecological and renewable
Wood is a renewable and ecological resource. By choosing wood joinery, you are opting for a material that respects the environment, especially as our wood comes from sustainably managed forests.
